Tunnel construction at Brookside Estates

Construction - Moderate Impact
Comments
  • Tunneling during daytime work hours with one shaft at Brookside Apartments and another in Merry Lane. Work is expected to resume following PGE powerline work nearby. This involves heavy pounding to set shoring to protect workers. Shoring and digging 20-40-foot-deep shafts will take approximately a month. Setting shoring will take approximately two weeks of intermittent pounding, then tunneling underground between shafts will be ongoing for approximately four months. This will consist of mostly daytime activities such as dump trucks hauling away dirt, flatbed trucks delivering pipe and tunnel supplies, and a crane to lower and lift materials and supplies into the tunnel shaft.
