Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon and Wallowa county. * From 3 pm PDT this afternoon through Friday evening * Thunderstorms that develop today will bring heavy rain Expect rainfall rates of one half to one inch of rain per hour with some storms. This will threaten areas of central and northeast Oregon with flash flooding or debris flows. Although storms will taper off overnight ... Another round of thunderstorms bringing heavy downpours is forecast again on Friday. * Expect standing water along roadways where thunderstorms develop Especially in areas that have poor drainage. The main threat will be debris flows in areas of steep terrain. Sharp rises along river and streams are also possible. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Details: I-84 MP 245.85 to MP 252.40 EB (west of La Grande) Effective March 30, 2015, this section of I-84 eastbound will be restricted to 13 feet 00 in. in width, 80 feet 00 in. in trailer length (inclusive of tongue), and 120 feet 00 in. in overall length. Mobile homes with eaves are allowed, provided the base width does not exceed 13 feet 00 in. in width. Loads that do not exceed legal width (8 feet 06 in.) will be allowed up to 160 feet 00 in. in overall length, and the trailer length is not limited. Estimated date of completion is November 1, 2015.

Details: I-84 MP 252.40 to MP 245.85 WB (west of La Grande) Effective March 30, 2015, this section of I-84 westbound will be restricted to 15 feet 00 in. in width, 80 feet 00 in. in trailer length (inclusive of tongue), and 120 feet 00 in. in overall length. Mobile homes with eaves are allowed, provided the base width does not exceed 15 feet 00 in. in width. Loads that do not exceed legal width (8 feet 06 in.) will be allowed up to 160 feet 00 in. in overall length, and the trailer length is not limited. In addition, all overwidth loads (over 8 feet 06 in. in width) must stay in the right lane between MP 251.5-250 and MP 248-246; passing other vehicles through these areas is strictly prohibited. Estimated date of completion is November 1, 2015.

Comments: The westbound on ramp at MP 270 is closed; a detour is in place. Use an alternate route. Ramps Affected. The existing EXIT 270 WB On Ramp will be closed beginning May 26 and remain closed until Sept 18. A temporary EB on-ramp at EXIT 270 will be in place allowing traffic from EXIT 270 intending to go WB to detour on I-84 EB to EXIT 273 to return to I-84 WB. EXIT 270 will be signed “Closed to Trucks” “Local Access Only” from May 26 to Sept 18.

No to Minimum Delay; Construction Work
Lanes Affected: (Eastbound) 1 Lane
Comments: Eastbound traffic on I-84 will be restricted to one lane, and westbound lanes restricted intermittently. Use caution. Ladd Creek Culvert Replacement - The project will be replacing an existing culvert under I-84 at EXIT 270. EB traffic on I-84 will be restricted to one 19 ft wide lane between MP 270 and 271 beginning May 26th and remaining in place until September 30. The restriction has been approved by motor carrier. WB traffic will be restricted to one lane intermittently during this same time period. The existing EXIT 270 WB On Ramp will be closed beginning May 26 and remain closed until Sept 18. A temporary EB on-ramp at EXIT 270 will be in place allowing traffic from EXIT 270 intending to go WB to detour on I-84 EB to EXIT 273 to return to I-84 WB. EXIT 270 will be signed “Closed to Trucks” “Local Access Only” from May 26 to Sept 18.

Work will begin May 18 and run until August 1 and include stripe removal, chip sealing, slurry sealing, and striping. Travelers can expect loose gravel on OR82 from June 1 through June 26 and are advised to drive with caution.
