Winter Weather Advisory, *NOAA Issue Date: 4/23/2017 01:47:00 PM Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 8 PM this evening to 8 PM PDT Monday ... The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to 8 PM PDT Monday. * Timing Tonight through early Monday evening. * Snow level The snow level will hover around pass elevation tonight through Monday, in the 4000 to 4500 foot range. * Snow accumulations Expect from 4 to 12 inches tonight through Monday, the heaviest above 5000 to 5500 feet such as at ski resort elevations. Pass elevations could see anywhere from less than an inch to as much as 4 or 5 inches. * Impacts Roads, especially at higher elevations, will become snow covered and cause travel disruptions. Roads across the passes will take a while to cool and allow the snow to stick, but may become snow covered at times as well through late Monday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

The Morrison Bridge will be closed for the same period. Travelers should make plans now to avoid delays on detour routes. During the I-5 southbound closure, travelers will be diverted to I-405 southbound to reach I-5 south of downtown. A lane of I-5 south will be open for travelers to access I-84 east. Travelers heading in from Washington State could consider using Interstate 205 to avoid congestion in the central city. Travelers should consider using other routes, including surface streets, or taking transit, depending on their travel plans. The onramp to I-84 east from the Moda Center will be open for fans departing the Blazer playoff game on Saturday, April 22. The remaining weekend closures of Interstate 5 will take place from 10 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Monday on the following weekends: • Friday, May 5 to Monday, May 8 (northbound) • Friday, May 12 to Monday, May 15 (northbound) Closing I-5 will allow contractor Hamilton Construction to perform concrete repairs underneath the Burnside Bridge, which spans lanes of the freeway. Areas of the concrete are degraded and at risk of falling on the freeway. This work is part of Multnomah County’s Burnside Bridge Maintenance project. The closures will also allow ODOT crews to do work on the closed section of freeway, including paving, survey, electrical, inspection and seismic work. US101: Manzanita Ave. – Neahkahnie Creek (Oregon Coast Highway, mile post 43.00 to 43.34) The work consists of replacement of an existing culvert at Neahkahnie Creek with a tunnel structure and enhancement of the stream bed as well as relocating and improving the highway alignment along U.S. 101 near Manzanita. Also, turning lane movements into downtown Manzanita will be enhanced. The scheduled work includes construction of new roadway alignment. Flaggers may need to occasionally control single lane traffic during construction when work is occurring. Minor delays should be expected when single lane closures are occurring and the public is reminded to drive through the area with caution. Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. The project is scheduled to be completed in September 2017.

Comments: U.S. 101/OR6 Traffic Improvement Project in Tillamook Ramps Affected. U.S. 101/OR6 Traffic Improvement Project in Tillamook This project improves traffic operations and performance, and increases safety on U.S. 101 and OR 6 through downtown Tillamook and across Hoquarton Slough. The project will lengthen the U.S. 101 couplet to the Hoquarton Slough by extending Pacific Avenue north beyond 1st Street and replacing the existing slough bridge with a new four-lane bridge. The new bridge will be up to 5 feet higher than the existing bridge. The project will also widen the travel lanes on Main and Pacific Avenues from 1st to 4th Streets. Turn lanes will be added at key intersections through town. The project also improves the Hoquarton Interpretive Area, and adds gateway elements and downtown beautification. Construction will be occurring adjacent to the highway. Expect shoulder closures and night time work. Look for construction vehicles entering and leaving the highway. The project is expected to be completed in the fall of 2018.

Details: US101 MP 141.67 (Yaquina Bay Bridge - Newport) Effective March 1, 2013, the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport is restricted to 20,000 lbs. single axle, 34,000 lbs. tandem axle - 105,500 lbs. GVW, Weight Table 2 for divisible loads; 21,500 lbs. single axle, 43,000 lbs. tandem axle - 98,000 lbs. GVW, Weight Table 3 for non-divisible loads. Non-divisible loads exceeding these weights (up to Weight Table 5) may cross the bridge if they stop traffic/straddle the centerline and are the only vehicle on the bridge when crossing. Certified flaggers are required to stop both northbound and southbound traffic. The rolling stop method is not allowed.
