US101B, 2 miles West of Astoria MP 5; Closure with Detour
The Lewis and Clark River Bridge will be closed starting December 1, 2014; a detour will be in place. Use an alternate route., The Lewis & Clark River Bridge is scheduled to be closed to facilitate construction activities starting December 1, 2014. This closure is anticipated to last until August 1, 2015. A detour route will be designated with signing during the length of the closure. The project is scheduled to be completed in November 2017.

Comments: Intermittent flagging with delays up to 20 minutes should be expected This project will upgrade the existing interchange to support the area's expansion. The project will upgrade the existing interchange by adding a westbound to southbound loop ramp and modifying an eastbound to southbound ramp and the existing southbound off ramp. Initial work is to clear areas for future improvements

Comments: Construction in the area, use caution. This project consists of installing guardrail, concrete barrier, and cable barrier along the median of I-5 through the Salem area. The scheduled work includes installation of cable barrier between mile post 253.83 and 258.92. Both the southbound left (fast) lane and northbound shoulder (northbound left lane may be closed sporadically) will be closed Sunday through Thursday nights from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. to facilitate construction between mile post 253.83 and 258.92. The roadway shoulders along the median, both in the northbound and southbound directions, may be closed or have their width reduced at any hours of the day as required to facilitate the work. Drive through the area with caution. Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. The project is scheduled to be completed in February 2014.

Comments: Highway open to local traffic only between Promontory Park and the Carter Bridge. After nearly four months of full closures and piloted escorts due to fire and rockfalls along Oregon Highway 224, local travelers can now travel the highway at any time of day or night without an escort starting at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23. Hazards still exist on OR 224 along a nearly seven mile stretch between Promontory Park and the Carter Bridge due to the effects from the 36 Pit Fire. Local travelers should be alert to rocks and trees falling from the slopes and rocks in the roadway. Due to these hazards, the road will remain closed to all except local travelers. Local traffic includes: • People living in the communities east of the closure, such as the Three Lynx, Job Corps and Ripplebrook communities and their visitors • People who work at the Job Corps or PGE facilities east of the closure • Businesses who have a business purpose such as the US Forest Service or PGE ODOT crews placed signs warning travelers about the hazards and have lowered the speed limit in areas where rockfall hazards exist. Due to the increased risk for rockfalls, ODOT can close the road if an immediate threat of rockfall is observed. A significant rockfall can also close OR 224. Travelers should carry an emergency kit in their vehicles and be prepared for emergency road closures due to rockfalls, slides, debris flows or downed trees. ODOT will evaluate opening OR 224 to all travel in the spring of 2015. Engineering geologists and engineers are in the early stages of designing a project to stabilize slopes in the area. Construction could begin in the fall of 2015.

Comments: No impacts to traffic Project Description: The U.S. 26 Brookwood Parkway/Helvetia Interchange project will improve traffic flow and safety in the interchange area. Project elements include: • Constructing a new westbound U.S. 26 to southbound Brookwood Parkway exit loop ramp. • Reconstructing the westbound U.S. 26 entrance ramp from Helvetia Road. • Widening the Brookwood Parkway overcrossing to accommodate additional northbound and southbound lanes over U.S 26. • Extending the right-turn lane from northbound Brookwood Parkway to the eastbound U.S. 26 entrance ramp. • Adding sidewalks and bike lanes within the interchange area. Traffic Impacts: Eastbound and westbound US26 will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29 and Tuesday, Sept. 30 for the contractor to set the new steel girders over US26. During the closure, traffic will be detoured up and over using the US26 on-and off-ramps. Traffic on Helvetia Road will be stopped for up to 20 minutes on Monday night, Sept. 29 while the crane is picking up the girders from their current location at the Jacobson/Helvetia Road intersection and transporting them to the overpass. The restriction on Helvetia Road will begin at 8 p.m. and will continue intermittently throughout the night. Prior to the freeway closure and detour, the contractor will close a lane in both directions of US26 beginning at 8 p.m. The lane restriction will be removed when the contractor completes the highway closure prior to 5 a.m. each morning. Please note: NW Groveland Drive is permanently closed at NW Helvetia Road. NW Groveland Drive will be accessible from NW Groveland Road via NW West Union Road. A speed reduction zone is currently in place on NW Helvetia Road/NW Brookwood Parkway from the NW Helvetia Road/NW West Union Road intersection to the NW Brookwood Parkway/NW Huffman Street intersection. The posted speed limit has been changed to 40 mph in the work zone.

The scheduled work includes reconstruction of the Lewis & Clark River Bridge. The Lewis & Clark River Bridge is now closed to facilitate construction activities. This full closure is anticipated to last until August 1, 2015. A detour route is currently designated with signing. The scheduled work at the Old Youngs Bay Bridge during the week of January 26th includes inspection of the timber support structure underneath the deck of the bridge. Flaggers will control single lane traffic at the Old Youngs Bay Bridge during construction when work is occurring as required. Minor delays should be expected when single lane closures are occurring and the public is reminded to drive through the area with caution. Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zone area. The project is scheduled to be completed in November 2017.
